Savage. Beauty.

 Welcome to the Metropolitan Museum of Art!

Oh hot damn. Where to begin!? Let me first start by saying that the wait for Alexander McQueen's Savage Beauty was 2 HOURS.  Words to describe the looks on people's faces when they saw this are: confused, upset, utterly shocked, etc.  Luckily, Valeria and I came to the Museum with my loving mother who waited on the line for us while we explored the museum and ate a fabulous lunch in their cafe (don't worry, we bought my mommy something too).  Once inside the exhibit, almost sobbing, I was in awe of everything McQueen had created.  Savage Beauty was everything you'd expect and more.  The man clearly had many demons but he used them to his advantage because his art is literally like nothing before.  He broke down so many boundaries in the fashion world and that was clear to me just by walking into the first of 11 rooms in the exhibit.  Sadly there was no photography allowed and guards were around every corner, so the two pictures I was able to sneak look pretty terrible. However, if you're unable to see the exhibit for yourself, I HIGHLY recommend going on the Museum's website and checking out some of the pictures, you will not be disappointed.

Vintage For the Win!

 This clutch has to be the most special item that I own, and the reason is that it is V I N T A G E.  It was my grandma's when she was my age! C'mon, how cool?  I'm currently obsessing over its beauty and detailed beading, and the fact that it comes from a time period completely unlike my own and I can give it a second life just amazes me.  For those of you that have vintage pieces of your own, i'm sure you guard them with your lives.  Plus, I love knowing that by this time, its one-of-a-kind! Well, that's all for my lazy post today...however...

Valeria and I will be attending Savage Beauty this weekend at the MET! This means you should be expecting pictures of our journey. For the readers that are clueless, this is a special exhibit that is 100 percent McQueen creations. I drooled over the pictures on the website and cannot wait to see the real thing.

Fanning's Cool Spring/Summer Style

My style crush of the moment: Dakota Fanning. These pictures of her are great inspiration for a breezy summer day (which seems to be the case more often in NY, now that the soaring temperatures have cooled down a bit). She looks so fashionable, but doesn't look like she's putting in too much effort. Now, I don't know about you guys, but that's right down my alley!

Dakota's  summer wardrobe formula ---> simple button up or knit top + short shorts/skirt + tough boots + trendy bag + cool shades = PERFECTION!

Half of a Moon

{Nail polish: silver slippers by Confetti and Broadway by N.Y.C. HOW CUTE?!}

Once I discovered the trick to half- moon manicures, I became a tad obsessed. There are infinite color combinations that I cannot wait to try! Especially since the campers where I work told me this color combo looks like poop. So that was just fantastic.  Anyhoo! Clearly I am not a hand model and my fingers are kind of chubby, but just look at the nails people!  This was so simple and surprisingly turned out nice so if you're feelin' artsy, get your half-moon on girlfriends.

Don't Rain On My Parade

{Boots: Steve Madden}

{Clothing all Forever 21: recessionista chic}

Today's weather summed up in one word: mysterious. The day started out bright and sunny! But suddenly, out of nowhere the clouds darkened, skies opened up, and it POURING. Rain that is. So what do two bloggers do when the weather takes a turn for the worst?  We attempt to take some artsy outdoor pictures, but chicken out the second a drop of rain hits our carefully knitted sweaters.  Basically, this is the best we could do considering the circumstances...

Saratoga Springs has sprung!

This weekend my family and I had the privilege of staying at our friends lake house up in Saratoga Springs.  The house is literally on the lake and is more beautiful than you could imagine.  The days consisted of eating, lounging, tubing, boating, kayaking (my fave), swimming, and exploring the town! That was where I was able to take shots of the incredibly unique styles in the many boutiques there.  Saratoga is known for its race track (think of a slightly smaller Kentucky Derby) and we just happened to be there for opening weekend. The town was more alive than ever and I was overwhelmed with the art and street performers. I can't even describe my love for this place! So I recommend you all get your butts up there and see this beauty for yourselves!

LEMONADE FOR LEUKEMIA

I spent the afternoon at a Lemonade for Leukemia stand at my friend's house, a fundraiser for the Leukemia and Lymphoma society. It was great to see so many people helping to make a difference and to know that people care. News 12 showed up this year to film and we all stood by the TV to see our house-front lemonade stand getting media attention! The 5 o'clock news is a BIG deal...HUGE! I had a fun time as usual (it has been the 5th annual lemonade stand) and can't wait for next year's! Bloggers, I hope to see you there!
